When God closes a door, look for an open window!

We saw this happen in July. One of our partner groups had to cancel their mission team visit to us about 6 weeks ago. Then we got a call from another friend who said that their mission team to Bolivia had been cancelled and if we could receive them. We watched doors close and windows open!
The mission team came from Allentown, PA, with 7 teens and 4 adults. When a team comes, we like to take on a community project as this allows us to open doors to share the Gospel. The first couple of days, they helped to paint the gym steps in the grade school in our community and also paint the computer lab.
They were so intent on the job before them that they did little talking and were so quiet. In fact, our maintenance man suggested that they mlght not even mix well with the kids as they were so quiet. Boy, were we ever wrong!  When we saw them playing with the kids, they really got involved and played hard. The kids loved having so much attention and people loving on them.
The team had prepared well for Bible story time and they even brought a HUGE ark, cut out of cardboard. painted and folded to fit in their suitcases. They had activities around the story of Noah and when the rain came, someone from behind the ark, started to spray the kids with water. Fun time for all. They also brought goodie bags for all of the kids.
We were able to play with the kids in different settings. In the squatter community of Guarari, they were able to play with the kids on the newly covered Basket Ball court that the previous team had just completed. Many of the kids came from our kids club and it was a joy to see the kids chalk paint some and even  painted Nelson’s fingernails. On Saturday night, we had a pizza party with the kids from the Santo Tomas church. It was such a privilege to hear testimonies from the teens and also from some of the leadears from the church. God is at work in so many ways.
We alway finish the week with a “cultural encounter day” for the team. We visited La Paz Waterfalls. As you can see, this is the time to let out all of the left-over energy from these days. Your partnership has allowed God to work in the kids hearts. We would love to have you come and join us in sharing the Gospel. Your partnership  has allowed God to do so many things in the hearts of the people. God has been working in the hearts of the families that lost all in the fire and your gifts have brought food to their tables.

Praise the Lord we have our new ultrasound equipment. This was a dream come true thanks othe partnership you have with the famiilies in Costa Rica. You have invested in the lives of these families who no longer have to wait 4 to 5 years for the government to give them an appointment..
September is our month to celebrate our independence, 204 years. It is a big event and all of the schools have special activities. I was able to go with Beca and Chelo to see Cami in her school performance. She was a little bird with wings. Lucy went all dolled up for the occassion and when she saw that none of the dancers were wearing shoes, she wanted to take hers off too.
Camila has been taking violin classes and this past month she gave her first recital. She looked so grown up and did a great job including the final bow to the audience. I love to watch them play together. Lucy is so excited as she gets to go to school with Cami on some days.
